Rachel Meets Ray

The Challenge

Young girls drop out of sport at twice the rate of young boys. Gatorade wants everyone to have access to the transformative power of sport, however 40% of teen girls lack confidence in sport due to various reasons leading to them to drop out to.

The Shift

To change the conversation around confidence from something you can lose, to something that is always within you. At age 9, now England and Arsenal legend, Rachel Yankey had to cut her hair and pretend to be a boy named Ray to play football – none of that stopped her. So, with the power of AI and de-aging technology, we brought her back to tell her story and empower young girls to never grow out of their confidence.

The Result

More than just a film, this work became an expression of Gatorade’s commitment to give 2.5 million teens worldwide access sport by 2030 through its #FuelTomorrow platform – a global platform designed to help girls play and stay in sport.
